The Queen of yachts....

Here´s technical information to our Magia, an AMEL Kirk from 1974.
Sketch- and Sailplan are from Amel, the wiring scheme is somewhat changed meanwhile, so that one is mine. It is just a basic schematic plan, to get a detailed insight in how a 12V Installation really works I´d recommend the book "12V Batteriestrom" by Lothar Jürgens, a sailing Electronic Engineer. His Company
LED Victorialight (sh. "Friends) also provides all my Inboard LED-lights - the only ones so far that are powerful enough and give a conveniently colored yellow light. Consumption of LED´s generally is very low - switching off the Nav-Lights in order to save energy is not only a bit insane but from the past!
And on MAGIA not necessary at all, even in caribean conditions (often clouds, short days, always hot) my solar panels produce enough to run my main consumers. The trick is to work on both ends of the system: Get as many panels as fit, get the best ones, add decent Charge Controllers, and then think twice about every consumer. On MAGIA this means a small IBM X60 low consumption Laptop instead of my faster and better Asus, a small 25L Fridge of best energy efficiency (Waeco CDF25)and all lights in- and outside LED´s. My Engine is running once a week for 30min, to check it and not to charge batteries!
And still I have cold beer.... Only at sea, if the autopilot runs, I run the engine once ervery 3-4 days for an 60-90 min - on the long trip I managed to combine that with calms.

MAGIA III

We constantly updated Magia III the last years to get her finally "fit for the caribbean", but unfortunately we now have to head home. What´s still to be done is a oil- and filter change on the Volvo and painting the decks white (paint partially already aboard). Apart from that she got everything needed for month of cruising, starting with an autopilot with plenty of spare parts down to the sparkplug for the outboard. MAGIA is a safe nicely sailing cruiser, coming complete with 6 sails equipped for everything what comes her way. She carried me thru some situations already totally unimpressed and was always easy to handle singlehanded. Ideal for the adventurer with small budget! Bring a set of clothing, fill the water, one trip to the supermarket and away……. We want MAGIA to be sailing with a new owner soon, so she is priced to sell!
